ABOUT ABOUT

On Sunday, May 17, 2020, from 2-4 pm, Yocum Institute for Art Education will host seven members of the award-winning literary and marketing collective, The Tall Poppy Writers (including founder, USA Today Best-selling Author, Ann Garvin) as an official event of the Celebration of Women in the Arts 2020, an initiative in Berks County running from January-June 2020.

The May 17 event will feature a panel discussion, interactive Q&A, followed by a wine and cheese meet and mingle reception/book signing event with the Authors.

In addition to Ann Garvin, the panel will include Amy Impellizzeri (Award-winning Author and Berks County resident) as well as regional award-winning and best-selling Authors: Kate Moretti (New York Times Bestselling Author, In Her Bones), Kathryn Craft (The Far End of Happy), Nomi Eve (Henna House), Amy Sue Nathan (The Last Bathing Beauty), and Kelly Simmons (Where She Went).

The Tall Poppy Writers (TPW) is a unique literary and marketing force that was founded in 2013 by USA Today Best-selling Author, Ann Garvin. The group is the only author-driven marketing cooperative in the U.S. that is exclusive to female authors who publish in a variety of genres. The TPW is dedicated to supporting the work of its members and fellow female authors, connecting directly with readers, and giving back —particularly in efforts that promote literacy in North America and abroad through its charitable partner, Room To Read. The TPW is the 2019 recipient of two Wisconsin Innovation Awards: for Collaboration and People’s Choice.

Additional successful brand partnerships have included Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Book Scents Candles, Bedside Reading, BookTrib, and more.

The event is free to the public but goodwill donations will be accepted to benefit Neighborhood Bridges, a critical literacy program designed to develops students’ abilities to write, speak, and think clearly. For more information about The Tall Poppy Writers, go to www.tallpoppies.org.
