The Yocum Institute's Dancing with the Reading Stars event raises money necessary to support on-going operations, scholarships, productions, and outreach programs – 50% of which are provided at little or no cost. Institute programs impact over 30,000 people annually – 80% under the age of 18 – 50% of those from families who struggle financially.
The Yocum Institute delivers these programs through partnerships including with the Reading School District, PAL/Olivet Boys & Girls Clubs, Berks County Public Libraries, Berks Mental Health, Wilson Area School District, John Paul II Center for Special Learning, and United Way’s Ready. Set. READ! initiative.
Beyond Berks County and Pennsylvania, we have formed a partnership with Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis as a national site for Neighborhood Bridges©. This program builds critical literacy skills and has been effectively used in over 126 classrooms in the Reading School District.
In the fall of 2019, the Institute will celebrate its 85th anniversary, highlighted by its new building at 3000 Penn Ave. West Lawn.
The move makes the arts accessible to a growing part of the countywith expanded instruction and scholarship opportunities.

Each routine involves: Taped pre-dance interview with couple, dance routine and opportunity to vote, voting sheets are on each table. Runners will come to table to get votes, Hold up the star on your table, or guests can vote at voting table. Interview with couple and selected guests.
8:00 pm Intermission
8:15 pm Dancing Resumes
8:45 pm Dancing Ends. Final Dance Voting Sheet and Audience Favorite Ballot Collected. Audience Dance Party
9:00 - 9:15 pm Awards announced
General Admission ticket seating will be arranged at the discretion of the Yocum Institute.
