The audience is cordially invited to visit the parlor of Poe’s Mother-In-Law, Mrs. Maria
Clemm to enjoy an hour of entertainment and camaraderie. In addition to parlor games
and readings, Mrs. Clemm is delighted that her dear nephew and son-in-law, the
remarkable Mr. Edgar Allan Poe, has offered to share a recitation of some of his most
remarkable works, including his ever-popular poem “The Raven”. She is also hopeful
that this event will inspire a reconciliation between Mr. Poe and Mr. Rufus Wilmot
Griswold who has agreed to attend.
In addition to several school day performances, there will be a public performance of
this theatrical event. The evening will include the audience as the esteemed guests who
witness and interact in a performance of heightened storytelling. Selections of famous
short stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe including: “The Tell-Tale Heart” & “The
Cask of Amontillado” as well as poems including “The Conqueror Worm,” “Annabel Lee”
and “The Raven” will be shared.
